What does “having it all” mean to you? Is it attainable?
Writing Prompt: What does “having it all” mean to you? Is it attainable? (Yesterday’s prompt)
Somewhere from my past, I wanted to have a lot of diverse friends in my life. But then, I didn’t know how. It was a challenge to make new friends while holding on to the old friends. I felt maybe I should find myself a guide or a mentor of a sort.
Well, all the adults at home whom I could approach were busy, that left me the often-open choice in our childhood – Books! Now an interesting thing happens. I now know that for a fact!
I entered the room with a book shelves, you guessed it right – School Library during my lunch break to find a book that spoke about how to make friends. This should have been my purpose and goal. I should have been steadfast in my pursuit of happiness for such a book.
Interestingly, that was not the case. I was swept off my feet by so many story books by people of different age groups. Yet to me they sounded like close friends, concerned for me, wanted to make friends with me. On that day, I picked my first chapter book much above my 8th grade reading level.
That book to this day, was my first book friend. With growing years my circle expanded and diversified. Now I have loads of friends whose thoughts meets mine and becomes a common factor between us.
Even if one friend vehemently does not agree with another, or even amicably get along, they are all peaceful on my library shelves. So, you can say that “I have it all!” After all, no one person’s point of view is the only valid point of view in life. All co-exits in the zooming past solar system.
I am sure it is attainable. But then being clear about what you want and for what you want becomes most vital criterion in life.
