My understanding of how to hone writing skills:
Let me begin with what is on the Flip Calendar:
“One must do things
With all the ardour of one’s soul,
With all the strength of one’s will…
~ The Mother
But the quote was for November 6th , so I flipped back to January 30th
Then, I found this:
“Nothing but a radical change
of consciousness can deliver
the world from its present obscurity.
~ The Mother
The words of the first quote intensely resonated with my inner thoughts. My current read-for-one-hour daily a few chapters of book was Mary Oliver’s A Poetry Handbook. A Prose guide to understanding and writing Poetry.
This made me think deeply about my craft and how I tend to handle it. I work with words as a creative writer. For me, it is just a promise kept. Showing up for the date with the Muse is more important.
The Author resonated those self-same idea of showing up come rain or shine. That kind of honest consistent behaviour results in a visible progressive growth in writing.
I felt this when I was working as a SEO Content writer. I wrote almost 8 hours every day except for Sunday. On Sundays, I would be polishing my poems written spasmodically in the office for a break.
Even when I would return home after work, I would be thinking about articles and blog topics for the next day. I found that consistent writing every single day meant I am creating new neural network in my brain to be available for writing at any given time.
But sadly, this job did not make me feel creatively satisfied. It was a job to boost website visits and thereby meet Digital Marketing targets.
Now I use a different method to work on my words. From thin air I would come up with ideas to write even though I do not have consistency backing me up. But the work is much more satisfying to me personally!
Sometimes, I take four or five days to come up with blog post ideas for my personal website which I started around 2015. Writing for my personal website used to be egged by inner calling for specific topics.
The later years, I would create a plan and tried writing for that plan. Then, when it failed to be inspiring for me, I decided that it was not the quantity but the quality of the written work that mattered the most!
ChatGPT Mapped a Plan for me to Write Consistently! Here’s how it goes:
🚀 How I Plan to Write Consistently Without Losing My Personal Touch
Writing regularly is hard. Writing regularly without getting political while talking about books, chai, and conversations? Even harder. ☕📖
So, I decided to create a simple content strategy to stay consistent while keeping my writing engaging and personal. Sharing it here in case it helps fellow writers!
✍ 1. Define Content Pillars
Instead of writing randomly, I structured my topics:
📚 Books & Reflections – Reviews, favourite quotes, personal takeaways
☕ Chai Stories – Rituals, cultural anecdotes, experiences
💬 Conversations & Musings – Thought-provoking discussions, storytelling
🎯 Lists & Recommendations – Book suggestions, chai pairings, conversation starters
🗓 2. Set a Publishing Schedule
- 1-2 posts per week (Tuesdays for chai stories, Fridays for book reflections)
- Batch-writing to stay ahead and avoid last-minute stress
📌 3. Plan with a Content Calendar
- One month of topics planned ahead
- Using Notion/Trello to track ideas and drafts
☕ 4. Create a Writing Ritual
- Writing with chai in hand (a must! 😆)
- Aiming for 500-800 words per post
- Keeping a notebook/app for spontaneous ideas
🗣 5. Keep It Conversational & Relatable
- Writing as if chatting with a friend over chai
- Adding anecdotes, humour, and personal stories
- Keeping it about shared experiences, not debates
🎙 6. Engage & Grow the Community
- Encouraging discussions & comments
- Sharing behind-the-scenes thoughts on social media/newsletters
- Inviting guest contributors or book/chai swaps

The plan might look structured, prim and proper; but does the content plan’s call-to-action are taken. Has the writer taken necessary action steps to create content?!! Then alone, will it become not just a wasted effort of Content Planning.
My weakness is tending to amble in my writing and not being crisp and to the point. The plagued with typos or incorrect long sentences, that could be another!
To learn how to write a blog post that gathers appreciation in its wake is every content marketer’s dream come true viral post. But when the post gets comment and thoughts from other it is much more enervating to the post creator.
The Wordy Takeaway
Blog post gets too personal and uncomfortable to read. Some of my opinion may sound old fashioned by in keeping with inner reference point.
I felt it is effective only when you could breakdown the writing sessions into three to four short Pomodoro technique into 2 half-a-day sessions. One from Morning to Noon, other one post-lunch from Afternoon to Late Evening.
Another element to writing regularly is to have a pre-planned structure. I tend to amble away from the topic if I don’t keep it focused on a specific goal. So, a Content Calendar should help a lot.
Moreover, including reading time also is important since writing is equal part reading and writing. To read widely and deeply would set to motion the writer’s thinking mind. From out of well thought out theories that had practical application seems to work best!
In Summary Research, Plan, Create, Broadcast
There are four verticals that needs to be taken care of before embarking in the journey of Content Writing and they are:
- Create a Content Plan
- Then, follow the Content Plan
- Read it again until it is perfect
- Test and Execute the Content Plan
